a423 architecture & design inc was established in 2007 as an architecture firm focused on quality of design with great environmental sensitivity. Its founder and president, Maria Diaz-Joves, believes sustainability should not be just an option or trend but become a design standard without hindering quality and budget. The firm's mission is to strengthen the connection between the creative design process and the socio-economic and environmental realities of its context providing modern sustainable design for all and encouraging the development of struggling communities.

a423 practices architecture as an innovative creative process which goes beyond the drawing board taking a hands-on approach in most projects. By merging the line between design and construction, we can manage quality, time and cost more effectively  resulting into successful projects and happy clients.

Even as a young small firm (1-4 people), a423 has been involved in various size residential, commercial and public projects in the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia area. Our clients satisfaction and referrals are proof that our dedication and service exceeded their expectations and demonstrates the value of a small practice responsiveness and quality of service. Being a certified woman minority firm, has allowed us to collaborate with other architecture, engineering and construction firms in pursuing public projects. We believe that good design does not come from an individual but from a great team effort and collaboration. We see our firm as a strong emerging practice providing viable sustainable solutions to today's built environment.

mission: to "make" honest, responsible & meaningful architecture.
