Located in Easton, a small city in eastern Pennsylvania, Maxim’s 22 evolved around the idea of combining the typical elements of a traditional french brasserie with the colonial and industrial history of the area. It wasn’t really too far-fetched of an idea... they both share a feeling of unpretentious casual comfort. Our goal was to evoke the feelings and nostalgia of the past with an honest modern approach without mimicking a specific era. We used authentic materials found in a brasserie such as metal tin ceilings, mosaic tile, marble, iron work, wood paneling, textured glass and warm lighting in a simplified practical way to create interesting textures and define spaces. Local artists crafted most of the furniture and metalwork making it a truly unique experience.
Just like food, a place can make us feel warm, welcomed and at ease while being exquisitely exotic and fascinating
